Our Commitment
Melomaniac respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. We respond to valid copyright infringement notices in accordance with applicable copyright law.
What We Host
Melomaniac hosts user-generated content (liner notes, lists) and metadata about albums and artists. We do not host or stream music files.
Album & Artist Data
Album and artist information is sourced from MusicBrainz, a community-maintained open music encyclopedia. This data is used under the MusicBrainz data licence.
Cover Art
Album cover art is sourced from the Cover Art Archive, which provides cover art under various licences. We display cover art to identify albums for the purpose of criticism and review, which we believe is fair dealing under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). Artist photos come from Wikimedia Commons under their stated licences, with attribution shown on each artist page.
Copyright Takedown Procedure
If you believe that content on Melomaniac infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice to legal@melomaniac.fm.
Required Information
Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the infringing material (URL or specific location on the platform)
- Your contact information (address, telephone number, email)
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorised
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate
- A statement that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner

Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification to legal@melomaniac.fm containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the material was removed in error
- Your name, address, and telephone number
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts in your location
Repeat Infringers
We will terminate the accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers.
Fair Dealing
We believe that displaying album cover art and metadata for the purpose of identification, commentary, criticism and review is fair dealing under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth). Users' liner notes are original writing that reviews and critiques the albums they discuss.
